The Trevor Proctor trained Tact Lizzie last night (Friday) rocked her way to Group1 harness racing glory in NZ record time for a racemare, when she downed a multitude of more fancied runners to take out the PGG Wrightson Breeders Stakes at Addington.

The daughter of Christian Cullen recorded a time of 3.09.4 for the mobile 2600, bettering the previous mark set by Mainland Banner back in 2006.

Fresh off the heels of an outstanding third to Auditor General in slick time last week, Tact Lizzie still managed to sneak under the guard of most punters and carried a tote tag of 64 to 1. Life wasn't easy for Tact Lizzie either, driver Steve McNally asking the mare for plenty from the 1000 to be three wide and parked before being driven to the front at the 800. Previous leader Smoke N Mirrors was finding the pace to hot to handle by the turn, and she wasn't alone as most of the opposition began to disappear into the distance that Lizzie was putting between herself and the rest of the field.

After putting paid to the strong Purdon/Payne contigent, Lizzie went about fighting off the challenge of the Mark Jones duo of Crystal Star and Telemecanique. In the end it was the brave mare from the South who withstood and repelled all challenges to record a popular victory for Dynes family who bred the mare. The margin was 1 1/4 lengths to Crstal Star who again stepped up to the mark when asked.

There was a further length back to stablemate and third placegetter Telemecanique. The record run equated into a 1.57.2 milerate with closing sectionals of 58.8 and 28.9. The regular Canterbury visitor has settled in well at the training establishment of Laurence Hanrahan. "Trevor's done a super job with her tonight, she settled in well at my place and has been working extra good leading up to this event.

We were all very confident she would go a big race, she's eating well and has just simply been thriving during her stay," said Hanrahan who has a close association with the Proctors. "I was best man for Tony and Elaine Kelly (nee Proctor) and have been good friends of the family for sometime. They are typical Southern people who always extended me their hospitality, so it's befitting that I can do the same."

Tact Lizzie will continue her Canterbury campaign when she meets her opposition of the same sex next week. The winner of ten races and $127,000 in stake earnings has been served by McArdle.
